Today, January 11, 2011 begins the 2012 Legislative Session in Annapolis

As 2011 comes to a close, I want to update you on my work for you in Annapolis since the last Session and to ask for your help.

The House completed its work on the State Budget and, in a flurry of activity and long sessions, passed scores of bills which were sent to the Senate for consideration.

The past week in Annapolis was marked by rallies and demonstrations by opponents and supporters of marriage equality, education advocates, supporters of immigrant rights and opponents of a potential gas tax.

We have just passed the mid-point in the legislative session.

The past two weeks have been extremely busy with visits from numerous constituents and advocates...

The 428th Session of the Maryland General Assembly is now underway.

As your State Delegate for the last four years, I have consistently put substance before rhetoric and worked diligently on behalf of the 42nd District as an independent vote in the General Assembly.

There’s a New Law, But It Still Pays

Delegate Steve Lafferty has been endorsed by the Teachers Association of Baltimore County, the Maryland State Education Association, the Baltimore County Professional Firefighters Association (Local 1311), NARAL Pro-Choice America, and the Maryland League of Conservation Voters.

At times, the Session was difficult but, I believe, productive.

With just a week to go in the 2010 Session, the House continues to address the budget and other substantial issues.

With Spring coming soon, we know that the Maryland General Assembly is in its final five weeks.

The legislature is approaching the half way point.

I believe most of my colleagues would agree that the 2010 Session is off to a fast start.
